Perfect Waffles and Homemade Syrup
Oh, man. These are the best waffles! And the new waffle iron I bought cooks four of them at a time–making breakfast (or dinner) so smooth. Enjoy!
Perfect Waffles and Homemade Syrup
whole wheat, crispy, buttery waffles
Servings 6 people
Ingredients
- 3 cups Whole Wheat Flour
- 2 Tablespoons Baking Powder
- 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 Cups Milk
- 6 Tablespoons butter melted
- 3 large eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
Homemade Maple Syrup
- 1 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 2 cups Water
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla flavoring
- 1 teaspoon Mapleine flavoring
Instructions
- Whisk together all dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Make a well in the center.
- In a separate bowl, whisk togethether all wet ingredients. Pour into the well and stir the mixture just until combined. There will be some small clumps.
- Pour about 1/4 to 1/2 cup batter onto the waffle iron. Cook 3-5 minutes.
- Serve with hot maple syrup.
Homemade Maple Syrup
- Stir together sugars and water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil.
- Boil for 2 minutes and remove from heat. Stir in vanilla and mapleine flavoring and vanilla and serve warm.
